Bike Rental Technician (fully hired)
Expect a fast paced work environment dealing with an array of customers from families and kids to experienced mountain bikers. You will assist customers throughout the rental process providing setup of bikes, safety equipment and accessories, whilst offering local knowledge and route advice. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer service and have a great work ethic to provide memorable experiences for every customer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and managing reservations for rentals and servicing.
- Welcoming guests and assisting them with the sizing and fitting of appropriate rental bikes, fitting them with suitable protective equipment and explaining proper usage of the equipment, whilst maximizing comfort and safety.
- Cleaning of bikes and protective equipment and a basic assessment of mechanical condition upon return.
- Ensuring all waivers are signed and the rental equipment is issued and recorded accurately.
- Processing payments, handling cash, coin orders, opening and closing duties.
- Selling retail products.
- Communicating with bike mechanics to book service appointments.
Qualifications and Experience
You:
- Have experience in a customer service role – preferably rental or retail.
- Have previous sales experience and use of Point of Sale systems (Checkfront or Vend).
- Have cash handling experience.
- Are passionate about biking – technical knowledge is a bonus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Junior Bike Mechanic (fully hired)
A hybrid role split between a front of house Rental Technician position and mechanic role in the workshop. You will work under the supervision of our Lead Mechanics to maintain our rental fleet of Downhill, Enduro, E-bikes and Recreational bikes to a high standard. There will be opportunities to help with customer servicing and learn more advanced servicing procedures. You will also assist with booking rentals for customers and setting up rental bikes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining rental fleet to a high standard
- Logging all fleet maintenance repairs and accounting for parts used.
- Creating rental bookings in store and over the phone.
- Setting up rental bikes for customers, including suspension coil changes and brake hose changes.
- Building rental bikes.
- Ride wrapping rental bikes.
- Processing completed rentals – checking out bookings, cleaning: bikes, helmets armor etc.
- Completing customer servicing under supervision from the Lead Mechanic
- Offering advice on retail and completing sales through our POS System.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of bike industry experience; mechanical, rental or retail.
- Efficient diagnosis of mechanical issues.
- Mechanical skills:
- Brake bleeding (Shimano & Sram)
- Drivetrain tuning and diagnostics (Shimano & Sram)
- Wheel truing and spoke replacement
- Safety inspection
- An enthusiasm for all things bike related!
Preferred:
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous bike retail/rental service experience
- Mechanical skills:
- Minor fork and shock servicing (Fox and Rockshox)
- Wheel building
- Tubeless system set up
Experienced Bike Mechanic
We are looking for an Experienced Bike Mechanic to work alongside our Lead Mechanics, maintaining the entire rental fleet to a high standard and completing customer servicing. Lead Mechanics will assist in the supervision and training of Junior Mechanics.
Duties and Responsibilities

Wage $22.50-$24.50 depending on experience.
Store Manager
- Black Tie Ski Rentals & Black Diamond Bikes are looking for a full time Manager with rental experience!
Year round Store Manager who will be responsible for running day to day operations in our ski and bike rental shop locations. The official start date is full time for summer 2026 but we have a flexible start date this winter to begin learning the role.
We are seeking a proactive and energetic individual who shares our love of the mountains, enjoys working with and leading a great team and is passionate about providing impeccable customer service to our guests.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing daily ski and bike rental operations during winter and summer months respectively (includes the front line work of a rental technician)
- Staff scheduling
- Staff training
- Involvement in the staff hiring process
- Ensuring the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction
- Conflict resolution
- Operating and training staff on our in house rental software
- Retail ordering, stock management and inventory control
- Managing sales of ex-rental equipment
- Assisting with staff housing program
- Organizing staff events
- Seasonal set up and pack down
Requirements
- Passion for skiing/snowboarding and mountain biking
- Minimum of 2 years ski/bike rental experience
- Extensive customer service experience
- Experience in a leadership role, i.e lead hand, supervisor, manager
- Retail experience
- Understanding of POS and inventory management software
- Permanent or long term status in Canada
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience in Whistler preferred
