Bike Rental Technician
Expect a fast paced work environment dealing with an array of customers from families and kids to experienced mountain bikers. You will assist customers throughout the rental process providing setup of bikes, safety equipment and accessories, whilst offering local knowledge and route advice. The ideal candidate will be passionate about customer service and have a great work ethic to provide memorable experiences for every customer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Creating and managing reservations for rentals and servicing.
- Welcoming guests and assisting them with the sizing and fitting of appropriate rental bikes, fitting them with suitable protective equipment and explaining proper usage of the equipment, whilst maximizing comfort and safety.
- Cleaning of bikes and protective equipment and a basic assessment of mechanical condition upon return.
- Ensuring all waivers are signed and the rental equipment is issued and recorded accurately.
- Processing payments, handling cash, coin orders, opening and closing duties.
- Selling retail products.
- Communicating with bike mechanics to book service appointments.
Qualifications and Experience
You:
- Have experience in a customer service role – preferably rental or retail.
- Have previous sales experience and use of Point of Sale systems (Checkfront or Vend).
- Have cash handling experience.
- Are passionate about biking – technical knowledge is a bonus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Bike Mechanic (Junior or Experience)
You will work under the supervision of our Lead Mechanics to maintain our rental fleet of Downhill, Enduro, E-bikes and Recreational bikes to a high standard. There will be opportunities to help with customer servicing and learn more advanced servicing procedures. You will also assist with booking rentals for customers and setting up rental bikes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining rental fleet to a high standard
- Logging all fleet maintenance repairs and accounting for parts used.
- Creating rental bookings in store and over the phone.
- Setting up rental bikes for customers.
- Processing completed rentals – checking out bookings, cleaning: bikes, helmets armor etc.
- Aiding the Lead Mechanic with minor customer repairs
- Completing customer servicing under supervision from the Lead Mechanic
- Offering advice on retail and completing sales through our POS System.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Minimum 2 years bike mechanic experience (for experienced mechanic role)
- Minimum 1 year of bike industry experience; mechanical, rental or retail (for junior mechanic role).
- Efficient diagnosis of mechanical issues.
- Mechanical skills:
- Brake bleeding (Shimano & Sram)
- Drivetrain tuning and diagnostics (Shimano & Sram)
- Wheel truing and spoke replacement
- Safety inspection
- An enthusiasm for all things bike related!
- Preferred:
- Previous customer service experience
- Previous bike retail/rental service experience
- Mechanical skills:
- Minor fork and shock servicing ( Fox and Rockshox)
- Wheel building
- Tubeless system set up
